Professional & DIY Use
Starting a new Showroom Series color change?

For optimum coverage, adhesion, durability, and proper use on plastic surfaces, we strongly recommend purchasing the complete Showroom Series — Vibrant Leather/Vinyl Color Change Kit rather than purchasing Dye Colorant alone.

The complete kit includes the products needed to properly prepare the surface, promote adhesion, build the new color, improve coating durability, and protect the finished surface. These products are especially important with the bright, highly saturated Showroom Series colors, which may require additional light coats to achieve full, even coverage.
  • Ultra-Vibrant, Luxury-Inspired Colors
  • Flexible Urethane Leather & Vinyl Coating
  • High-Pigment, High-Saturation Formula
  • Apply by Sponge, Airbrush, or Spray Gun
  • Available in 8 oz through 128 oz Sizes

Dye Colorant Only vs. Complete Color Change Kit

This listing contains Showroom Series Dye Colorant only. It does not include the preparation, adhesion, binder, or protective finishing products supplied with the complete Showroom Series Color Change Kit.

Dye Colorant Only: Best for customers who have already purchased a Showroom Series Color Change Kit and need additional color to complete their project, or experienced users who already have all required preparation and finishing products.
Complete Showroom Series Color Change Kit: Recommended when beginning a new color-change project. The kit supplies the supporting products needed to maximize coverage, adhesion, durability, and overall finish quality.

Why the Complete Showroom Series System Is Recommended

Showroom Series colors are intentionally bright, highly saturated shades designed for dramatic interior transformations. Achieving the best results involves more than simply applying Dye Colorant over the existing surface. Proper cleaning, adhesion preparation, multiple light color coats, durability additives where required, and a protective Top Coat all work together as a complete refinishing system.

This is why we strongly recommend the complete Showroom Series Color Change Kit for anyone beginning a new project. The standalone Dye Colorant listing is primarily intended for customers who have already purchased the complete kit and need additional color, or experienced users who already have the necessary supporting products.

  • Color Prep & Cleaner: Thorough cleaning and surface preparation are essential before recoloring. Color Prep & Cleaner removes contamination and helps prepare the existing finish so the following coatings can bond properly. Proper preparation is especially important during complete color changes where several coats will be applied.
  • Adhesion Promoter: Applied after surface preparation and before the Dye Colorant, Adhesion Promoter helps create a stronger bond between the original surface and the new coating. This improves adhesion and helps reduce the risk of premature peeling or coating failure in high-contact interior areas.
  • Showroom Series Dye Colorant: The flexible urethane color coating that creates the new Showroom Series shade. Because these colors are intentionally bright and highly saturated, coverage should be built gradually with multiple light coats. Dramatic dark-to-light changes may require significantly more coats than a same-color refresh.
  • Super Binder: A crosslinking additive that can be mixed into the coatings to improve scratch and rub resistance. Super Binder is required when refinishing hard plastic components and helps create the durability needed for frequently handled interior surfaces.
  • Urethane Top Coat: Applied after the new color has been established, Top Coat protects the Dye Colorant from everyday wear while providing the selected final sheen. It is an important part of achieving the durability and finished appearance expected from a complete interior color change.
Important Coverage Notice: Showroom Series colors are highly saturated and are frequently used for dramatic color changes. Dye Colorant must be built through multiple light coats, and some projects will require more material than others to achieve full, even coverage.

Purchasing Dye Colorant alone does not guarantee sufficient coverage for a complete color-change project. Actual coverage will vary based on the original color, selected Showroom Series shade, material, surface condition, preparation, application method, and number of coats required. For optimum coverage, adhesion, durability, and overall results, we strongly recommend beginning a new color-change project with the complete Showroom Series — Vibrant Leather/Vinyl Color Change Kit .

Using Showroom Series Colors on Plastic

Showroom Series Dye Colorant can be used as part of a properly prepared system on compatible automotive plastic surfaces, but Dye Colorant should not be applied to hard plastic by itself.

Hard plastic requires proper surface preparation, adhesion products, and Super Binder mixed into the coating to achieve a durable finish. For this reason, customers planning to recolor plastic components should begin with the complete Showroom Series — Vibrant Leather/Vinyl Color Change Kit .

Application Methods

Showroom Series Dye Colorant may be applied by hand with a foam applicator sponge or sprayed with an airbrush, touch-up gun, or conventional spray gun.

When applying by sponge, use a light dabbing or tapping motion rather than wiping the coating across the surface. Apply multiple light coats and allow each coat to dry to the touch before applying the next.

For dramatic dark-to-light color changes or especially bright shades, additional light coats will normally be necessary to build complete, even opacity.

Choose Your Dye Colorant Size

Select the amount of additional Showroom Series Dye Colorant needed for your project. If you are beginning a complete color change rather than purchasing additional material, please use the complete Showroom Series Color Change Kit instead.

Size Typical Use
8 oz Additional color for smaller areas, accent pieces, bolsters, inserts, or completing a project that needs slightly more coverage.
16 oz Additional color for medium-sized areas or projects requiring several extra coats.
32 oz Additional material for larger seating areas or substantial color-change projects.
64 oz Large-volume additional color for full interiors, professional jobs, or dramatic transformations requiring significant extra coverage.
128 oz / Gallon Professional-volume Dye Colorant for large projects, repeated jobs, or extensive interior transformations.

Coverage Note: Coverage estimates are approximate and are not guaranteed. Actual usage varies based on the starting color, final color, surface condition, material type, application method, and number of coats required. Bright colors and dark-to-light transformations may require substantially more Dye Colorant than a same-color refresh.
